A new-sibling book starring your child

A new baby changes everything for an older child. A personalised new-sibling book tells the story with them as the hero: the waiting, the hospital visit, and the first time the baby holds their finger.

Hearing their own name in the story helps children see the big-sibling role as something to be proud of.

Their feelings, gently

The story acknowledges mixed feelings and lands on pride and love.

Baby’s name optional

Use the baby’s name, a nickname, or “the baby” if it is not chosen yet.

Before or after

Works as preparation during pregnancy or as a welcome-home gift.

How it works

Step by step

  1. 1

    About the child

First name, age and pronouns. The age sets the age band: board book, picture book or early reader.

  2. 2

    Design their avatar

Choose skin tone, hair style and colour, eye colour, glasses and freckles. No photo upload needed.

  3. 3

    Pick a theme

Birthday, Christmas, new sibling, first day at school, bedtime or a hero adventure.

  4. 4

    See the preview

About a minute later: their character portrait and a cover with their name.

  5. 5

    Make the book

Every page illustrated (12 spreads for a picture book), editable text and a dedication, then download.

Questions

Frequently asked

When is the best time to give a new-sibling book?

A few weeks before the baby arrives helps children prepare; it also works as a gift for the older child on the day the baby comes home.

Can it be about twins or a step-sibling?

Yes. Describe the family situation in the notes and the story follows it; you can edit every line.

Do you need photos of my child?

No. The first version uses an avatar you design. If photo likeness is added later it will be opt-in, with parental consent and automatic deletion of source photos.

How is this different from “Write a children’s book”?

This template is done for you: a finished gift book in minutes. “Write a children’s book” is for authors writing their own picture book to publish, with age-band rules and illustration tools.
